i will wade out

The controller and my boss at work both keep apologizing to me that it's so slow here right now. With our accountant out sick, I've really had nothing to do, so I've been reading on my Kindle a lot, and I guess they may have noticed. I read two thirds of Disclosure (Crichton) yesterday between lunch (12:00pm) and bedtime (10:30pm.) I'm not even sure how many pages that is, but I eat books for lunch. And dinner. Nom nom nom.

I've been having issues with my back hurting. My back and shoulders have always been tight, but when I was a kid and dancing all the time, I constantly worked on stretching the muscles so that they were both strong and more flexible. In my old age (hah!) I don't dance three to four days a week, or swim, like I did in college, so the muscles in my back and shoulders have withered and shrunken to their normal, sad state. I really started noticing it when we got this crappy and old -- but free -- mattress from craigslist when we moved to Seattle, but then we got a memory foam mattress topper. I thought it would solve the issue, at least partially, but aside from making me comfier and never want to get out of bed ever again, my back is strill really hurting. It usually feels like it needs to be cracked, like something is out of alignment? The boy knows how to crack my back, so that helps, but it can only be cracked so often. And sometimes, even when it cracks, there's still tension left over. I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. I do some easy Yoga on the Wii in the evenings, every couple days, and that seems to help stretch the muscles out, and make me feel more balanced in general, but it doesn't seem to help with the feeling of tension.

It's particularly bad this morning. It started hurting last night, and when I lift my right shoulder and lower my left, it feels like the muscle right along my spine, below my right shoulder blade is being stretched taught. I keep stretching like that, hoping it will either align itself properly or at least stretch out to the point where it isn't painful anymore. I'm contemplating doing sun salutations in the conference room.

Anyone have any advice on the chiropractic route? I've heard good and bad things...
