I'm so happy with my breakfast/lunch this morning...even if it didn't occur until noon. Because on weekends, I sleep in. Not to mention that on weekends when it's raining, which is pretty much every weekend in the winter here, supposedly, I don't really have a reason to get up. Since most of the days activities include the computer, television or some combination of the two.
Since this was my first meal, and therefore also lunch, I added a little cottage cheese to my wheat toast with Nutella and walnuts. It was delicious, but I can't actually eat this much when it's my first meal. Especially after having a large mug of coffee, so half of my second piece of toast is still hanging out on my plate. I'm slowly working my way through it.
Nate and I were talking this morning about how we both (completely separately and somewhat strangely) associated Nutella with Veggiemite when we were younger, and were therefore disinclined to try it until later in life. This is especially strange for me, I think, because hazelnuts and chocolate are probably two of my FAVORITE things. And because Nutella is obviously super delicious.
I was also thinking about how there's many foods that I love that other people hate, where as foods that most people think are awesome, I can't stand.
Love:
-Brussel Sprouts
-Cottage Cheese
-Cabbage (but not coleslaw)
-Sushi/Raw Fish
Hate:
-Avocados (I think this is a texture thing, because from having it in sushi, the taste is not bad)
-Hot Sauce
-Vinegar (with the exception of salt and vinegar chips...don't ask, I don't know)
-Peppers
-Pickles
-Ketchup or Mustard
-Steak (yeah, yeah, call me crazy)
and wait for...
water.
Now, I don't think I actually hate water. I just hate drinking something that has basically no taste with a liquidy, wet texture. Because I love ice. And I don't mind water that's really, really cold. And I like water when I'm very thirsty or working out. But given the choice, I'd rather taste what I'm drinking.
How about you? Anything you love that other people tend to hate (or vice versa)?
I can't think of anything that I don't really like-- which sounds sort of crazy, fine, but I can get behind anything from avocados (I'm a Californian! We're sort of required to like them) to black licorice and anchovies. This comes in handy most of the time (especially those "What does everyone want on the pizza?" ones), but also results in a lot of sidelong glances at my plate during large-group meals. Ah well.
