i won't sleep tonight

So, the other day I got myself an account on Pinterest. I was excited while logging in -- but when the front page loaded, I got indimidated and closed it. And then looked at bathing suits on ModCloth, Target, Alloy and Delias and dreamed about feeling comfortable in a bathing suit again. Like these:

Anywho.

I feel like everyone I know is getting married, getting engaged or just got married. So sometimes I like to plan my own wedding, even though it is many miles, moons and adventures away. I go back and forth between traditional and non-traditional wedding dresses and white and non-white wedding dresses; between flowers for centerpieces and something funky and handmade. I am very indecisive, but I do love these few that I found while making at second attempt at navigating Pinterest:

human nature (ten on tuesday)

As always, head on over to Roots and Rings to link up with Chelsea!

1. What’s the recipe for your favorite drink? (Smoothie, alcoholic, coffee, whatever.) Chai Tea mix and milk. I just love chai.
 2. What kind of razor do you use? Bic Soleil. I've contemplated going back to using one of the Venus w/ the disposable heads, but I just can't bring myself to spend the money to start it off.

3. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character? Cookie Monster? or Oscar.

4. What makes the perfect salad? (Lettuce type, toppings, dressing, etc.) Iceberg. Those wedge ones. Oh, man. I do also enjoy a good Waldorf, with the nuts, cheese and berries. Yum.

5. What was your favorite subject in school? Chorus. I like singing. Plus, it was super easy =)

6. What’s your favorite summer tradition? I'm not positive I have any summer traditions. Maybe I should change that...

7. Do you suffer from season allergies? How do you combat them? I don't have any seasonal allergies. Knock. On. Wood.

8. How often do you have to charge your cell phone? Usually just while I sleep. I know its bad for the battery to leave it plugged in all night, but it's the only time I remember. =P

9. Do you have a bucket list? I have a list of things I'd like to accomplish, but I haven't updated it in a while. So...sort of?

10. Do you have any desire to go back to school?
Yes! Though, I'm not sure what for. I'm very indecisive.

the words don't mean enough

It has been crazy CRAZY here at work, because it's the end of the fiscal year so everyone is scrambling to get shit stuff done before the 30th. I am taking  amoment to breathe, because after lunch I feel like all hell is going to break loose and there will be people physically running invoices around. We're obviously super prepared for this! Hah.

Nate and I went to the gym last night to have our free personal training sessions for the month. He was training with a guy named Charles, but since he got a new 8-5 desk job (which he is increasingly more excited about every day he goes) and Charles only works until 4:30, he was in need of a new trainer. So we decided to do a buddy session with my trainer, Dawn. I was a little skeptical, but it turned out to be awesome! We worked mostly arms, legs and cardio, with a little core (which is fine by me.) We also did measurements, and discovered that -- despite my week in Boston eating every type of barfood imaginable and not working out for a week and a half -- what I have been doing is paying off. I haven't lost a whole lot of fat (see: copious amounts of nachos/ice cream/rich wedding food,) but I have gained 1.5% muscle, which is awesome. My arms are now even (apparently before one was 9.5" and one was 10.5"...so I gained .5" in one and lost it in the other. Hoorah for symmetry?) Unfortunately everything else is the same or a little higher, but I'm not surprised by that fact. Now that we're back in the swing of things, that should (hopefully) change.

Ok, back to numbers and numbers and numbers. Have I mentioned I'm not really a numbers person? Oh well.

sweet berry (ten on tuesday)

Welcome to yet another week where it's possible all I'll do is answer memes. Because it's my blog and I can; my life is just that exciting. (Link up with Chelsea over at Roots and Rings!)

1. What’s the perfect meal?
Thanksgiving. It includes all the perfect foods: dark meat turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, copious amounts of bread and PUMPKIN PIE.

2. What are the perfect pair of shoes?
I have a hard time finding perfect pairs of shoes, but recently it's been my new denim Airwalks. They're from Payless, and I'm pretty sure they cost me about $6. ANDILOVETHEM.

(my feet hang out under a desk all day, so I very rarely change into my work shoes -- even though I bring them with me every day. Shh, don't tell!)

3. What is the perfect afternoon?Something that involves food, drinks and shopping! But seriously, I love just wandering around markets, stores, downtown areas. It's all good.

4. What’s the perfect house?
Something roomy. I'm not terribly picky about what type of house it is, as my interests stretch from old school Victorians to new construction to Tudor, but I would like it to have an awesome kitchen with a gas stove and an island/breakfast bar, a fireplace in at least the living room (if not bedroom,) and a master suite. Other than that, I'm pretty flexible.

5. What is the perfect outfit?
Jeans. T-Shirt. Aboslutely no shoes.

6. What’s the perfect wedding song?
The Luckiest by Ben Folds, but it's kind of running rampant among my friends as part of their weddings, so I probably won't use it as anything specific in my wedding.

7. What is the perfect job?
For me? Singing. Especially a cappella and choral, but I'd take just about any singing. I like performing for people.

(I'm on the left; one of my best friends, Megan, is on the right)

8. What’s the perfect hairstyle?
A ponytail, because I don't have to mess with it.

9. What’s the perfect music festival?
Winterfest at Leon! Get out of school early and just run around with friends listening to bands. It was the awesome-est.

10. What’s the perfect day to yourself?
I love just walking down to the water and reading on a bench where I can look out over the Sound. I guess a perfect day to myself involves me, reading and tea. And maybe some Facebook games <-- addict over here, people.

i am a junkie

Of the Food Network. And HGTV. And sometimes TLC. I just can't help it. This is the second time I've watched this rerun of Next Food Network Star today...and I'm still kind of watching it. Why? Who knows. I'm a glutton for rerun punishment.

Happy Father's Day! I sent my Dad a card, but he didn't get it yet. Super lame.

My computer at work on Friday got a virus from somewhere or another (sad. face.) around 11:30 in the morning. It's something nasty, and doesn't allow me to even see my desktop background (even though it's there and working fine) and gives me false alerts about memory execution failing and such. Our IT dude called it tenacious, because at around 4:00PM, after having the computer repair itself and running a freakin' three hour virus scan and deletion, it still wasn't gone. I don't know where it came from, because I didn't open anything that I hadn't already opened on the computer before, so who knows where it came from. But it was running another virus scan when I left on Friday, so hopefully that wiped it out? Of course, Brian (our accountant) was out, so I was only one there who actually knew how to do the stuff that was supposed to happen to the purchase orders -- way to make me feel necessary -- and I couldn't check my emails. It was el stupido.

In any case, our trip to New England was awesome. The wedding was beautiful, even if the weather wasn't, and visiting with friends and family just made me even more homesick. The feeling has been appeased a bit, however, because my sister is here! And to escape her bible-study offering housemates, she came and hung out with us Friday night (for sloppy joes -- nom!) and then on Saturday, Nate and I rented our first Zipcar, picked up Liz and went shopping. We had Five Guys for lunch, then proceeded to drive back and forth between Target, QFC and Northgate Mall as many times as possible in a 5 hour period. I'm only slightly kidding -- we retraced our steps multiple times because we kept forgetting things. And as it stands, we still forgot grocery items (after hitting up Safeway, also,) and somehow we misplaced a bag from Target containing two packs of hangers which is part of the reason we were going to Target in the first place. We are winners.

I'm looking forward to summertime, when the weather is supposed to be gorgeous here, I get to hang out with my sister more and Nate is working a desk job very close to my desk job, so we can meet for lunch and walk together in the morning. Yay!
